Vitamins are essential to good health. When Vitamins were first discovered they were given temporary names, starting with Vitamin A, then B, C, D and so on. Then we discovered that Vitamin B was a mixture of several different chemicals so they were given subscript numbers 1 to 12. Vitamin is not a food although it is usually present in the foods we eat. Nor it is a food supplement. Vitamins do not provide energy, nor do they build up worn out tissues. Still a man cannot live without vitamins.Vitamins can be categorized into fat soluble and water soluble vitamins -

Fat Soluble vitamins: A, D, E and K

Water Soluble vitamins: AVitamin C, eight B vitamins: biotin, thiamin (B1), riboflavin (B2), niacin (B3), pantothenic acid (B5), pyridoxine (B6), folic acid/folate (B9) and cobalamin (B12).

Vitamin A - Vitamin A is fat soluble. It requires fats as well as minerals to be properly absorbed by your digestive tract. Vitamin A helps in building resistance to respiratory infections. It shorten the duration of diseases.

Vitamin B1 ( Thiamine ) - Vitamin B1 is also known as Thiamine. It is water soluble. Like all the B-complex vitamins, any excess is exerted and not stored in the body. Vitamin B1 Keep nervous system, muscles and heart functioning normally.

Vitamin K - Vitamin K is also known as Menadione. It is fat soluble. Vitamin K is usually measured in trio of K vitamins. K1 and K2 can be formed by natural bacteria in the intestines. K3 is a synthetic.
